Federal leader of the Palmer United Party and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, says the Opposition’s fixation with a $600 broken table showed how out of touch it was with the Australian people.
“Penny Wong has got it wrong,’’ said Mr Palmer of the Labor Senator’s use of Senate estimates hearings this week to probe the mysterious case of the marble table damaged during a farewell party for ousted PM Tony Abbott.
“What a waste of time and taxpayer funds pursuing this matter, they should be getting on with more important things and concentrating all their efforts on being an effective opposition,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“Let’s do more for the Australian people instead of silly witch hunts.”
“Labor had no economic plan while in government and have clearly learned nothing in opposition if this is how they are going to act.
“At least Malcolm Turnbull has a strategy and is showing a way forward, so let’s get on with it and stop these ridiculous distractions.”
Mr Palmer said the first responsibility for politicians was to help Australians.
